Sociálnoprávna ochrana detí a sociálna kuratela patrí ku kľúčovým poliam sociálnej práce. Ide o oblasť praxe, ktorá je náročná z dôvodu širokej škály riešených problémov. Prevažná väčšina problémov, ktoré sa riešia na úseku sociálnoprávnej ochrany detí má interdisciplinárny charakter, v dôsledku čoho je výkon na tomto úseku praxe náročný aj na rozsah vedomostí. Jednotlivé prípady sú často emocionálne náročné. Hlavnou úlohou sociálnych pracovníkov a pracovníčok je ochrániť dieťa, jeho práva a právom chránené záujmy. Táto práca si vyžaduje kvalitnú pregraduálnu prípravu a osobnú zaangažovanosť sociálnych pracovníkov. Podkladom štúdie bol výskum, ktorého hlavným cieľom bolo identifikovať poznatkové deficity študentov a študentiek z odboru sociálnej práce pre výkon praxe v oblasti SPODaSK. Výskum bol realizovaný v kvantitatívnom dizajne. Metódami zberu dát boli obsahová analýza a dotazník. Výberový súbor tvorilo 141 respondentov, z toho bolo 105 žien a 36 mužov.
Výsledky výskumu potvrdili nízky záujem respondentov o prax v oblasti sociálnoprávnej ochrany. V závere príspevok prináša niekoľko vysvetlení tejto situácie.

Abstract:
Social and legal protection of children and social guardianship are key fields of social work. This is an area of practice that is demanding due to the wide range of problems solved. The vast majority of problems solved in the area of social and legal protection of children are interdisciplinary in nature, as a result of which performance in this area of practice is also demanding in terms of the scope of knowledge. Individual cases are often emotionally demanding. The main task of social workers is to protect the child, his or her rights and legally protected interests. This work requires high-quality undergraduate training and personal commitment of social workers. The study was based on research, the main aim of which was to identify knowledge deficits of students from the field of social work for the performance of practice in the area of social and legal protection of children. The research was carried out in a quantitative design. The data collection methods were content analysis and a questionnaire. The sample consisted of 141 respondents, of whom 105 were women and 36 were men.
The research results confirmed the low interest of respondents in practice in the field of social and legal protection. In conclusion, the article provides several explanations for this situation.
