Abstract

Abstract
This research reflects on the experiences of care provided in healthcare facilities and how these experiences influence trust and behavior towards the healthcare system. Twelve semi-structured interviews revealed that unequal treatment is not merely a statistical figure, but an everyday reality. The research sample was formed using the snowball sampling technique and consisted of 12 participants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, which were transcribed and subsequently analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings suggest that negative experiences of the Roma minority may lead to the omission of preventive medical check-ups, thus hindering early diagnosis, especially of congenital diseases. This cycle contributes to the deterioration of the health of Roma men and women, which can be described as a secondary consequence of the discriminatory attitudes of healthcare personnel.
